Highland Energy–Water Nodes turn abandoned mountain farmland into self-contained power and water assets — solar, storage, and atmospheric water generation in a single containerized unit, built for the land conventional developers walk past.

The problem
Cyprus is throwing away nearly half its sun.
47% of Cyprus's solar and biogas generation was curtailed — generated, then wasted — in 2025, because the grid can't absorb it at midday.1
That's enough clean power for 51,000+ households, thrown away every year.1
17 of 19 groundwater bodies on the island are officially over-pumped.2
A new March 2026 law now steers renewable projects away from productive farmland — and toward the land Cyprus has already abandoned.4
The grid is full. The wells are empty. The land is idle. That's not three problems — it's one opportunity.

The solution
One node. Power, storage, and water — on land no one else wants.
Each Highland Node is a modular, behind-the-meter unit combining solar PV sized to the site, non-lithium thermal/electrified storage that banks midday sun for use when the grid needs it, and an optional atmospheric water generation (AWG) module that pulls drinking water from air, no drilling required. It sits on abandoned agricultural land in Cyprus's inland highlands — economically worthless to conventional developers, but legally and technically ideal for this platform.
Built to be replicated. Node Alpha is the first of a platform, not a one-off installation.

How it works
Site
Identify abandoned highland parcels with strong solar exposure and grid proximity.
Build
Deploy a containerized node: PV + storage, with AWG as an optional module.
Operate
Sell stored power behind the meter, produce water on demand, and replicate the model node by node.
Why now
- Curtailment is structural, not temporary — it won't be fixed until the Great Sea Interconnector comes online, expected 2028–2029 at the earliest. 5
- Storage subsidies are live — Cyprus has committed €40M in subsidy funding for battery/thermal storage projects. 3
- The law just changed in our favor — March 2026 legislation blocks new renewables on productive farmland but explicitly protects self-consumption installations on abandoned land like ours. 4
- Nobody else is building here — the land is too fragmented and unglamorous for conventional developers. That's exactly why it's available.
Vision — speculative, not sourced
This isn't one site. It's a platform.
Node Alpha is the proof point. The plan: pilot → 10 nodes → 100 nodes → a licensable model for other sun-rich, water-stressed, land-abundant regions. Cyprus is the testbed; the model travels. This scale-up path is directional, not a forecast — unlike the curtailment and water figures above, it isn't independently sourced.
